John W. Evans is the author of the memoir, Young Widower (University of Nebraska Press, 2014), winner of the 2013 River Teeth Book Prize. He is also the author of the poetry chapbooks, No Season (FWQ, 2011) and Zugzwang (RockSaw, 2009), and poems and essays that appear in Slate, The Missouri Review, Boston Review, The Southern Review, Gettysburg Review, ZYZZYVA, The Rumpus, Poetry Daily and elsewhere. His poetry book manuscript, The Consolations, has been a finalist for various contests, including the National Poetry Series, the CSU First Book Prize, and the Brittingham and Pollak Prizes. From 2008 to 2010, he was a Stegner Fellow in poetry, and before that, a Fulbright Hays Fellow, public school teacher, and Peace Corps volunteer.
