ENGLISH 116A: The Poetry of John Milton (lecture) Taught by: Martin Evans Fall Quarter, 2009-2010 MW 3:15-4:45, Room: 200-303 | n this course we will study Milton's major and minor poems from "The Nativity Ode" and "Comus" to "Paradise Lost" and "Samson Agonistes". My lectures will focus not only on the texts but also on the various contexts that are relevant to Milton's writings - earlier examples of the genre, earlier treatments of the same theme, the political and religious situation at the time of the works' composition, and Milton's own career.
