Ato Quayson is the New Chair of English

This was the announcement of Ato Quayson's agreement to serve as the next chair of English from Lanier Anderson

"Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Ato Quayson has agreed to serve as the next chair of the English Department.  Like all of you, I have been impressed by the energy and spirit with which Ato has thrown himself into his Stanford life since his recent arrival among us, and I am deeply grateful to him for his willingness to step up to service in this important new role.  Gabriella and I look forward to working closely with him to advance the department’s programs in the coming years.

I benefitted enormously from the feedback I received from so many of you during the process of seeking a new Chair.  I am grateful for your careful thoughtfulness and your evident commitment to the mission of the department.  I know you will help me congratulate Ato and welcome him into the role, and we count on your continued investment and assistance in our efforts to improve the life of the department going forward.
