Elaine Treharne Awarded 2021-2022 Clayman Institute for Gender Research Fellowship

Elaine Treharne has been awarded a 2021-2022 Clayman Institute for Gender Research Fellowship, for her project ‘Reinscribing Women Writers, 500-1500’. This new research project addresses the difficult issue of discovering women scribes in Northern Europe in the medieval period, asking where they are, and how they can be traced more effectively. Elaine is working across scribal traditions, evaluating the role of women scribes in Hebrew, Chinese, and Arabic manuscript cultures alongside the western corpus.
