Jessica Jordan

Jessica recently earned her Ph.D. from Stanford University and is a former holder of the Jeff and Sara Small Next Generation Scholar Fellowship at the Stanford Humanities Center. She is at work on her book manuscript Anxieties of Abundance: Book and Body in America’s Gilded Age, which explores how the late nineteenth century “book flood” heightened the already-troubled sense that books were people with minds (and bodies) of their own. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in the British Library Journal, English Literary History, and College Literature. She is also the recipient of several book collecting prizes, including the Honey & Wax Prize, the California Young Book Collectors’ Prize, the National Book Collecting Contest, and Stanford’s own Wreden Prize.
