Michael Shewmaker is the author of Penumbra (Ohio UP, 2017), which was a recepient of the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize. A native of Texarkana, Texas, he earned an MFA from McNeese State University and a PhD in creative writing from Texas Tech University. His poems recently appear in Best American Poetry, Narrative, Oxford American, Virginia Quarterly Review, Yale Review, and elsewhere. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Emily.
