Sara Houghteling

Sara Houghteling is the author of Pictures at an Exhibition, a New York Times Editors’ Choice Book, and a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award. A recipient of an NEA grant, a French Fulbright, the Narrative Prize, and a John Steinbeck Fellowship, her work has also been recognized with a Camargo Residency, a Wallant Award, the Ribalow Prize, a Sustainable Arts Award, and the Avery Jules Hopwood Prize in both fiction and playwriting. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Narrative Magazine, and the San Francisco Chronicle. A lecturer in the Stanford English Department, she also teaches fiction with Continuing Studies and hosts the interview series Stanford Fiction Writers in Conversation.
