Seungyun's research examines how imperial systems structure the conditions of remembering and forgetting in twentieth- and twenty-first- century American and Asian American and Transpacific literature. She is interested in the relationship between memory, empire, and narrative form, with particular attention to how individuals exercise ethical agency within structures that govern what can and cannot be remembered. Her broader interests include archival theory, life writing and visual culture, and the question of the human in an age of technological transformation.
