Ximena Briceno, Lecturer of Latin American Literature and Culture at Stanford

We will be hosting Ximena Briceno, Lecturer of Latin American Literature and Culture at Stanford University, who will be presenting on “Amphibian Encounters: Del Toro through Cortázar”. In her talk, Ximena Briceno will offer a reading of The Shape of Water, the 2017 movie directed by Guillermo del Toro, through the lenses of the Argentinian writer Julio Cortázar (1914-1984) and his short story “Axolotl”. 

In preparation for the talk and the subsequent discussion, we have attached here a Spanish version of “Axolotl”, accompanied by its English translation.
